My Favorite Things on PhotoPeach
PhotoPeach

This is a really easy program to set up and use. You go to photopeach.com and you have to create a user name and password to log in. After creating an account you can immediately begin uploading photos by hitting upload photos at the top of the page. You can make more than one slide show, or look at other photo slides that people have done. If I used this in the classroom I would create a class page and have each of the students make their slide shows off of the same account. You can use pictures from the internet, pictures saved on your computer, or pictures on a memory card. In order to upload photos off the internet they must first be saved onto the computer or flash drive in order to put them in the slide show. After placing the pictures in the show you hit the download button and this moves you to another screen. At the next screen you add what you want each slide to say, and then which music you want playing during your show. The selection of music is limited to what they provide for you unless you upgrade to the premium package. The theme of my slide show is My Favorite Things. I will show my students my slide show and walk them through how to use PhotoPeach. Students will then have to create a slide show that has five to ten slides showing their favorite things. When each student has completed making their slide show of pictures they have to then write one to three sentences describing why they chose those things as their favorite. A project like this can be used in an ELA class to promote writing. I think students will respond positively to this activity because they get to be creative and incorporate their interests into the final product. I really enjoyed making this, but I was a little frustrated as well. You can only use the music that the program has, and it is easiest to add the caption to photos when you go back and edit instead of right away when you put the pictures in the slide show. This could be a very useful tool in the classroom with making different presentations. I would recommend if you are going to use it make sure you play around with it so that you know exactly what to tell your students when they go to do their projects.
